The round frame is iconic.
Goodness knows how many years this frame style has been around. An early etching of eyeglasses, dating back to the 13th century, shows some a gentleman squinting at his parchment from behind a pair of round framed specs, so that gives you some idea of their history!
It’s been a staple for many years’ since then, but 2017 was the year where round frames really started their comeback. Now it’s suggested that globally 1 in 3 frame sales are Round frames!
Their unique shape sets you apart from other sunglasses lovers, and the diverse styles of round sunglasses available mean you can rock as outrageous or as smart and elegant a look as you like. They give off a particular aesthetic and a certain suave every time they are seen on, like a man that is on a mission or an entrepreneur stepping out of a meeting. Let’s be real, if you do pick out the right round frame you will be racking up some serious outfit and style points as well. Popularised very much by celebrities, they’re a favourite among festival goers and high-end fashion lovers who are wanting to make an effortless statement.
The main thing to think about when buying round frames, is making sure if they actually suit. The distinctive look they give off means it can go one of two ways, that being they look incredibly slick or incredibly not! To avoid the awkward “them sunglasses do not suit him look” from people, its been said that people with more of a round shaped face should stay away from round frames as they can work disproportionately with your facial features.
With the optical side of round frames, they have become a very elegant and entrepreneurial look in the more recent years. They’ve come with the branding of “A young successful businessman” look who has great fashion sense without putting effort in. Brands such as Ray-Ban, Tom Ford and Gucci to name just a few have created some incredible luxury round frame pieces, which make the perfect statement for anyone.

First up we have the SL 250 from Saint Laurent, a brand that is new to us for SS19.
Next up, Gucci’s GG0124S. Bold black frame with a stylish double bridge design.
It wouldn’t be a list if we didn’t include Ray-Ban and their RB3594 Beat Sunglasses. A reimagined version their Oval frame style.
Finally, Alexander McQueen and their AM0174S

Tom Ford FT5401 – This has to be one of my all time favourite Tom Ford frames!
Giorgio Armani AR5057 – sleek, round, gold – perfect.
Saint Laurent SL 125 – the combination of tortoise shell surround and metal temples creates a sleek and stylish design, fit for any occasion
Ray-Ban RB5283 with Official Ray-Ban lenses (notice the logo and etching on the lens) is one not to be overlooked!
I’ve only begun to touch the surface on how much of an impact these glasses have on any outfit, but the round frame will be a style which is never dying.
