Ray-Ban, possibly one of the most famous eyewear brands in the world. With 63 different styles (at time of writing) available at Tortoise+Black it can sometimes be hard to decide what frame is right for you.
In my personal opinion, there’s a Ray-Ban style for every occasion, but also key pieces that suit any face shape and all styles. Here’s my pick of the top three Ray-Ban frames that every man should own.
In at number 1 is the Ray-Ban RB2132 New Wayfarer. As the name may suggest, it takes design inspiration from the original Wayfarer design whilst cementing itself as an iconic piece within the collection. The RB2132 has a smaller, softer lens shape and says goodbye to the pantoscopic tilt of the lenses bringing them back closer to the face. This creates a retro-classic look in my eyes, and provides a more comfortable and better fit. If you’re after a real classic style though, then opt for the Original Wayfarer.
Number 2, I’m channeling my inner 80’s Top Gun Fighter Pilot for this one…The Ray-Ban 3025 Aviator. Although it became an instant style icon when first launched in the 1930’s for military fighter pilots, this style really hit the mainstream in the 80’s with the launch of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun. It’s a style that many have tried to imitate, but few can beat this original classic. It’s a frame that has seen many colour and style combinations over the years’, now available in over 22 different options including mirror finishes, Gradient lenses and most recently the Evolve lenses collection.
And finally, in at number 3 it’s the round shaped beauty that is the Ray-Ban RB2447 Round Fleck. Ray-Ban led the way with round lenses, a style that can be seen across almost every eyewear brand right now. It’s a smart, yet sleek style that can work for every occasion. This lightweight frame provides the perfect mix of premium acetate and metal temples. It’s available in the traditional G-15 lens tint with black frame, through to blue mirrors and even frames with eye-popping green temple tips.
